The last time Villa met Ipswich in this particular competition was February 1996, with Brian Little's men running out 3-1 winners at Portman Road. Mark Draper, Ian Taylor and Dwight Yorke scored the goals.
The last time the two sides met at Villa Park was December 2001, with Juan Pablo Angel bagging a brace in the 2-1 league win, Finidi George scoring the consolation.
