Liverpool 1-3 Villa: Lambert - Quiet Baker does talking on the pitch
Lambert says Baker is unassuming and inconspicuous outside of his natural habitat on the pitch.
But importantly he's letting his football do all the talking.
Baker's performance at Liverpool was terrific, excelling in the three-man backline at Anfield.
And his first-half block to deny Jonjo Shelvey with the game locked was a big moment in the game.
Lambert said: "Nathan is a really unassuming lad, very quiet. He doesn't say two words to you.
"But let's be fair to him, he's performing fantastically well. His block in the first-half was great. It was brilliant at a really big moment in the game."
Lambert was quick to praise the back three, containing Baker, for the way they put a stop on Liverpool's most expressive players like Luis Suarez.
He added: "The lads overall defended resolutely and strongly. The back three lads are just getting better and better in my opinion. I have no praise high enough for them! They have been brilliant.
"They did it again at Anfield. They were up against a real exceptional side in Liverpool who were in exceptional form. Coming to Anfield is always tough so the way we played and the way we're looking, it's brilliant.
"It augurs well for the future as we build this club. That's what we are trying to do.
"But the back three lads were absolutely brilliant.
"This will give them great belief. Even against Manchester United, if we could have just hung on… we gave a good account of ourselves.
"If we keep progressing, we could become a really good side.
"The back three were outstanding. They probably won't get the credit they deserve because of the goals but I think they deserve a special mention, along with Brad Guzan."
Make sure you back the boys against Tottenham.
