Liverpool v Villa: Lambert - We're putting down "building blocks"
Paul Lambert can see a bright future for Villa as he continues to put the "building blocks" down.
For Lambert, it's a case of small steps as he continues to nurture a young and emerging side.
He's been delighted with the progress made these past few weeks and hopes the gradual improvement continues through the festive period and into the second half of the season.
He said: "We are slowly but surely getting there. We're doing really fine. The win over Norwich was another building block.
"For a few weeks now we've been playing really, really well. We've come through a really hard run - Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal - that's really, really demanding with a young team.
"But we're playing very well, extremely well and the lads have been brilliant.
"They need a bit of help but if you can give them time and they keep that collective spirit, with the crowd we've got, they'll drive us on. The Norwich victory was a huge win for us.
"I have every faith in those lads to do everything they can for the football club. There is a fierce collective will and desire in this group of players.
"Over a sustained period of games now, we have been able to put together a series of performances and results that reflect the growth and continued potential of the team.
"You can actually trace it all the way back to the game against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
"For the most part we have been excellent through these games, a fact that has been recognised by the ongoing magnificent support of the fans which has in itself strengthened the confidence and core belief within the team.
"The fans have a vital part to play in all of this and it is the vibrancy and enthusiasm they generate game after game which provides that extra lift to the players."
Make sure you back the boys against Tottenham.
