QPR v Villa: Lambert stresses team will be 'fired up" for capital clash
Paul Lambert thinks QPR will be buzzing on Saturday thanks to the arrival of new boss Harry Redknapp but he insists his own players will be fired up for the clash at Loftus Road.
Villa boss Lambert is a firm admirer of Redknapp for not only his managerial skill but also his man-management attributes.
He thinks this ability to motivate players will now be in full flow after the former West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham gaffer took the reins from Mark Hughes on Friday.
But Lambert says his own players will be in confident mood heading into the capital clash as they look to register back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Villa, of course, beat Reading 1-0 thanks to a brilliant header from Christian Benteke with just ten minutes remaining.
Lambert is keen for his side to build on that result and think they can head down to QPR and record their second away victory of the campaign, following the success over Sunderland.
Lambert thinks it will be party time at Loftus Road as the home faithful greet their new gaffer but he hopes his team can feed off that positive energy and burst their balloon.
He said: "We go into the game with plenty of optimism. But it will be a different game to the Reading match.
"QPR have a new manager in place and it will be a really tough game.
"Everyone knows how good a manager Harry is and he can really get players going. The squad QPR have too is incredible.
"But we will go down with plenty of confidence which is great.
"Harry will have his players fired up but we can feed off the atmosphere too. They will do. The onus is on the home team to make the running and that's when you can maybe pick holes.
"But we go down there with confidence and we will try to win."
