Nathan Baker comes in at centre-back while Brett Holman is recalled in midfield.

Skipper Ron Vlaar misses out after sustaining a calf injury in Saturday's goalless draw against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Karim El Ahmadi drops to the bench.

Gabby Agbonlahor will captain Villa in Vlaar's absence.

Reading have made two changes from their defeat against Wigan on Saturday.

Shaun Cummings replaces Chris Gunter, while Adrian Mariappa is in for Kaspars Gorkss.

Former Villa man Nicky Shorey lines up for the Royals at left-back.
