It was part of the Premier League Players Kit Scheme, which is a joint initiative between the Premier League and the PFA. The aim is to provide football kits to U16 clubs, schools and youth organisations. The members of all 20 Premier League squads have donated £25,000 to create a £500,000 fund for the scheme. So far over 1,500 teams have been selected to receive the kits, which include a full set of strips plus training equipment such as bibs, cones and balls.
