Holman thanks coaches and team-mates after scooping top award
Brett Holman was quick to pay tribute to his coaches and team-mates at club and international level after scooping the Australian player of the year award.
Holman, who has made a promising start to his Villa career since arriving from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer, had already picked up the Professional Footballers Australia award back in June.
But the midfield ace made it a double by earning the top gong from his home country's football federation.
After enjoying an excellent pre-season for Villa with goals against Burton Albion and Peterborough United, Holman carried his fine form into the 2012-13 campaign.
The 28-year-old has made 12 appearances for Villa so far this term and was voted Mars Player of the Month for September following some all-action performances.
Holman, who accepted his latest award via a video link to a ceremony in Sydney, said: "I'd like to thank everybody for this achievement.
"It is a great honour. I'd like to thank all the coaches and the players that I've worked with over the past year and the physios and technical staff that have helped me get through the season.
"I've achieved some great things in the year 2012 with club football and with the Socceroos.
"Finally, I'd like to congratulate all the other winners. Thank you for this great honour."
