Villa v Man Utd: Agbonlahor wants big upsets in tough festive period
Gabby Agbonlahor insists the Sunderland win has given the team a big injection of confidence heading into the Manchester United clash.
Agbonlahor called the Stadium of Light result a "massive victory" because of the run of games upcoming, including Manchester United [h], Manchester City [a] and Arsenal [h].
He now wants Villa to use the feel-good factor in camp to help inspire the team for the rest of the month.
He said: "It was the ideal way to start the month because if we didn't get the result on Saturday then it would have put us under more pressure.
"It was a massive win because a few teams won around us, Wigan and Norwich.
"The whole of the second half of the table is tight but we just knew Saturday was a massive result.
"We didn't want to leave there without a win because of the schedule we've got coming up.
"We've got some really tough games. For us we had to get the points."
On the tough schedule, he added: "It's hard, but there are upsets in football and we'll be hoping to make one.
"We know it's going to be tough but we've got the team spirit and the hard work and hopefully we can get something out of them.
"As a team we're just going to forget about this win now and go into this next game and try and get another result.
"The manager has just said to us 'keep playing like we have been doing'. The boys train hard, we've tried different things and different formations.
"He said to carry on working hard and the results will come and that's what happened at Sunderland.
"We played the right way, the right football and the result came."
Make sure you're here to roar on the lads against Manchester United.
