Thursday media watch [25.10.12 AM]: Norwich previews

The Sun: Paul Lambert insists Aston Villa fans were wrong to chant his name while Alex McLeish was still in charge. Villa travelled to Norwich for the final game of last season and supporters called for Canaries chief Lambo to replace McLeish. That is what happened.

Daily Star: Paul Lambert admits he felt "uncomfortable" with Aston Villa fans singing his name while he was still Norwich boss. It happened as they turned up the heat on Alex McLeish in the last-day defeat at Carrow Road. The following day Big Eck was axed and Lambert, who comes up against the Canaries on Saturday, was appointed as his replacement.

Birmingham Mail: Former Norwich target Karim El Ahmadi insists staying out of the Premier League drop zone will be Villa's main motivation this weekend. Villa are one point and one place above the bottom three going into Saturday's lunchtime clash against Chris Hughton's Canaries. And El Ahmadi admits dropping into the relegation places is a psychological blow Paul Lambert's claret and blues are anxious to avoid.

Birmingham Mail: Paul Lambert has revealed he felt "really uncomfortable" when the Villa away fans chanted his name while he was still the manager of Norwich. But he insists he has nothing but praise for the claret and blue faithful for their support since he quit Carrow Road to come to Villa Park. The 43-year old Scot will be reunited with the Canaries for the first time departure in Saturday's lunchtime home clash.

Birmingham Mail: Villa threw away a two goal lead in their NextGen Series clash with Celtic and now have a tough task to qualify from Group 4.

Best of the Rest

BBC Sport: Ipswich Town chief executive Simon Clegg says he has made contact with potential replacements for Paul Jewell from "a long list of about 34 names".

Sky Sports: Manchester United ace Nani has admitted that he does not know if he has a future at the club, claiming "only God knows what awaits me".

BBC Sport: Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini admitted it will take a miracle for his side to reach the Champions League knockout stage after blaming himself for Wednesday's crushing loss at Ajax.
