Wednesday media watch [10.10.12 PM]: Gardner stays upbeat

Express and Star: Villa midfielder Gary Gardner will follow the example of older brother Craig at Sunderland and play anywhere to get in the starting line-up. The 20-year-old midfielder is currently on the long road to recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament operation on his right knee, and will not play again for at least another six months.

Express and Star: Paul Lambert today hailed the impact Brett Holman has made at Villa since he joined the club - and thanked former manager Alex McLeish for signing him. The Australian midfielder completed a Bosman transfer from AZ Alkmaar in the summer; a deal which had been put in place by McLeish before he was sacked.

Sky Sports: Paul Lambert reckons Aston Villa will have "a player on their hands" once Brett Holman starts scoring. The Australian - signed on a free transfer in the summer - has gone eight games for his new club without scoring.

Sky Sports: Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner says the prospect of regular first-team football is driving him through his latest injury lay-off. The England U21 international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for the Villa U21 side in August and is set for a long spell on the sidelines.

Goal.com: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says it is only a matter of time before winger Brett Holman opens his scoring account for the Premier League side. The former AZ star has so far failed to net in his first six Premier League appearances since a summer move from the Eredivisie side.

TEAMtalk: Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner says the prospect of regular first-team football is driving him through his latest injury lay-off. The England Under-21 international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for the Villa U21 side in August and is set for a long spell on the sidelines.
