Tottenham v Villa: Lowton relishing encounter with pal Walker
![]()
Matthew Lowton is relishing a potential showdown with former Villa right-back and close pal Kyle Walker this weekend. Tottenham ace Walker became a popular figure at Villa Park during a six-month loan spell at the end of the 2010-11 campaign. Since returning to White Hart Lane, he has gone on to be a big hit in the Spurs first team as well as earning England honours. Lowton has followed in the footsteps of Tottenham's two Kyles - Walker and Naughton - by coming through Sheffield United's academy before moving to the Barclays Premier League. Although Naughton is set to miss Sunday's clash in north London with a foot injury, Lowton could come up against fellow ex-Blade Walker. "The two Kyles are both doing fantastic and both came through the same academy as I did," he said. "They played in the same teams as me when I was younger too so it is nice to think I can follow in their footsteps." Lowton watched from the stands when Walker made a stunning goalscoring debut for Villa against the Blades in the FA Cup in January 2011. Now the Chesterfied-born colleague is set for a meeting with his pal on the top-flight stage this Sunday. "It was a fantastic goal and it was written in the stars really, Kyle coming back to Bramall Lane and scoring a goal like that," added Lowton. "Hopefully I can go on to achieve what he has done."
