Holman: My best is yet to come in a claret and blue shirt
Brett Holman reckons there is more to come from him - after vowing to add goals to his all-action displays.
Holman has already endeared himself to the claret and blue faithful with a string of tireless midfield performances since arriving from AZ Alkmaar.
The Australian international came close to opening his Villa account in Sunday's draw against West Bromwich Albion but was denied by two stunning Ben Foster saves.
Asked about his form, Holman said: "It could always be better. I could have scored two goals on Sunday but the keeper made two great saves, so it could always be better.
"You just have to try to do the right things and everybody has to fight hard for their spot. That's my main aim.
"The style, speed and intensity and how quick it is compared to Holland is a big difference.
"You can't compare that. All the players who have made that step will say the same.
"The more games you play the better. It's the same with every job, the more days you work or the more games you play, you get familiar and you get used to what the players around you want and that's showing."
Holman is determined to break his duck in competitive action for Villa after scoring in pre-season games against Burton Albion and Peterborough.
"You have got to get into those positions and in the first few games I haven't had those opportunities," he added.
"They came up against West Brom and you have to pull the trigger and if you don't try you'll never know.
"I was running to the corner flag celebrating after the second one but he pulled off a great save.
"All credit to him but it was unlucky for me. I think everybody tries to score goals.
"It is something you have to try and the keeper made some great saves unfortunately for me."
