Bennett determined to build on impressive Villa Park debut
Joe Bennett is already craving more Villa Park action after relishing the intensity of Sunday's derby against West Bromwich Albion.
Bennett made an impressive home debut in the 1-1 draw with the Baggies.
The full-back felt Villa were good value for at least a draw on what was an "exciting" occasion in his career.
"It was my first derby so it was exciting," said the former Middlesbrough defender.
"Both sets of fans were up for it and both sets of players were up for it.
"It was a good game and it felt like a good game to watch.
"There were numerous chances for both teams and I felt overall it was probably a fair result.
"Going 1-0 down it is hard but we kept on going and never gave up and in the end we got our reward with Benty getting a goal, which was pleasing.
"I thought we pretty much dominated after that.
"There weren't too many clear cut chances but we had a lot of the ball. We played well, especially in the second-half.
"We were unlucky not to get the win in the end."
Bennett came close to capping an accomplished display with a first Villa goal.
The 22-year-old went close with a free-kick which curled around the West Brom defensive wall and went inches wide of the post.
"I think it was a bit too close to clip over the wall so I thought I'd go the keeper's side and it just didn't come round enough," added Bennett.
"It would have been a nice way to get my Villa career started but nevermind. It was a good result in the end."
After featuring for Villa three times in the space of nine days, Bennett is determined to hold on to the left-back spot.
"You are going to have competition for places at any club and even more so at a club like Aston Villa," he added.
"I am just happy I got some minutes and hopefully I can carry that on next week."
