Newcastle 1-1 Villa player reaction: Guzan predicts good times
Brad Guzan insists "good things will happen" for Villa under Paul Lambert.
Guzan, who made two world-class saves at Newcastle, has firm belief in Lambert and believes his policy of recruiting young and hungry players is a masterstroke for now and the future.
The USA ace believes the display on Tyneside, with Villa excelling defensively and offensively, is just a prelude to even better things as the season progresses.
Guzan, re-signed under Lambert, said: "We have a young team but we have a bunch of hungry lads that want to get after it and want to do well and prove themselves to the manager.
"When you put all those things together, good things will happen.
"Credit must go to the manager for the philosophy he's bringing in of playing football.
"We're all about creating chances and we certainly did that at Newcastle.
"When you have the players we do and you have the backing of the manager to go out and play and enjoy it, it can only lead to really positive things.
"I think this is just a preview of what's to come for the season."
Guzan believes the point at Newcastle will have a beneficial effect on these young lions as they start to find further belief in their ability.
He added: "It's a great point. We know it's a really tough place to go. It gives us the belief that we can go and do it. I thought we created enough chances to get the result. But a point is certainly not the worst thing.
"We knew the first two games were a bit of a stumbling block but to go to somewhere like Newcastle and get our season started, it's important for us. We will now build and move forward."
