Moyes: Lambert will bring out the very best in Villa

David Moyes believes Paul Lambert has what it takes to bring out the very best in Villa - but insists it will take time. Moyes oversaw a 3-1 win for Everton at Villa Park, goals from Steven Pienaar, Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic doing the damage. In spite of the defeat, Lambert has been backed by his opposite number to strengthen Villa "when he gets his teeth into the job." Moyes said: "It is a big job for Paul, but Aston Villa are a great club, a big club and once he gets his teeth into it he will be fine. "He did really well at Colchester, he did well at Norwich and he's got a big club to work with now. "Given time and the chance, he'll make Aston Villa into a really strong club. "Villa have had a young team for quite a while. They have had some really good young up and coming players coming through the academy set-up they have there. "So it is definitely a transitional period at Villa. It was last season when Big Alex was there and now with Paul taking over this year. "It is going to be hard. Paul is a young manager who has come to a big club and it is a bit like myself when I took over at Everton. "You are not going to turn things around right away. It is going to take time. "Paul has got a big job on his hands, which I'm sure he knows. "No-one can come into any job, and especially one as big as this, and expect it to be correct right away. But the supporters were right behind him and were with the team. "Probably the downside for Paul is he met a hot Everton team and that was probably a hard thing to take in your first game. "We knew the crowd would be behind them and it would help if we could calm it down a bit and the first goal did that." Click here to buy tickets for the Capital One clash with Tranmere. Keywords
