Villa's first home game of 2012-13 ended in disappointment as Everton left Villa Park with a 3-1 victory.

The Toffees surged into a three-goal lead through Steven Pienaar, Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic before Karim El Ahmadi replied for Villa.

Manager Paul Lambert, goalscorer El Ahmadi and defender Nathan Baker spoke to AVTV following the defeat.

Lambert didn't hide his disappointment after his first home game at the helm ended with a loss.

Although the manager felt his team upped their game after the break, he admitted the damage had already been done.

And Lambert called for a response from his players when they face Tranmere in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

There were mixed feelings for El Ahmadi after the Moroccan midfielder scored his first Villa goal in the defeat.

He admitted his strike served as little consolation because of the result.

Baker spoke of his disappointment for close pal Ciaran Clark who was sent off in the second-half against the Toffees.

The defender also discussed Tuesday's cup clash against Tranmere.

The Worcester-born stopper revealed he is looking forward to coming up against former team-mate Adam McGurk, who plays up front for the League One outfit.
