Q] Anything you picked up on from West Ham? A] The need to create chances was there for all to see. We had a lot of the ball in certain points during the game but at the end of the day you've got to score, which we never did. We will try and rectify that. Q] Want fans behind you? A] We will certainly need them against a very, very good side. We have to give them something back aswell. There's no point saying we need the crowd and we're not giving them something. We will make mistakes because we're a young side but if everyone sticks together hopefully we will be okay. Q] What did you make of Everton on Monday? A] I was up there. They were very good. They have beaten one of the favourites for the title. On the night, they were very, very good. Q] Some surprised because they're seen as slow starters? A] Marouane Fellaini was excellent as had been well documented. He was very, very good. They were a team and I thought the atmosphere was good. We will have to be bang at it to get anything from this one. Q] How have the lads responded? A] They have been fine, really, really fine. It's their first game. Q] Know David Moyes? A] I don't think I ever played against him. I came across him when I was Norwich manager. I have had dealings with him on the phone. He's been phenomenal for Everton. Q] Learning more about your current squad? A] Yes you have to keep learning. I have only been here a short time. I was reasonably happy with the way we played with the ball the other day but the end product wasn't there which you have to have. You're learning all the time. Q] Home form crucial to good season? A] Home and away to be honest. I think you have to win on the road aswell. The home ones give you the advantage of being at home. But we have to win as many games as we can, whether that's at home or away. Q] Missing link finding Bent? A] I don't think you can have that much of the ball and not have a chance. I think that's wrong. It's up to us to rectify that. Tomorrow gives us a chance. I am sure the lads will give it everything to try and win. Q] Different approach at home, higher tempo? A] It will be the same as last weekend. I always try and get on the front foot. I play a high tempo and a high intensity so the only difference is we are at home and we have to get on that front foot. There's too many people come to watch. We have to force the game. Q] What done differently in training? A] I give them the freedom to go and do it. You look at it on paper and you have Holman, Ireland, N'Zogbia and Bent, four really, really talented players and for some strange reason we didn't get a chance at it. But from back to middle I thought we were really fine. To go away from home in the Premier League and even have that possession? But ultimately you have to score. Q] Missing Gabby? A] He's been a loss, no doubt. He's a bit different from anyone else. But he's doing really fine. Hopefully we will see him back pretty soon. Q] Chance creation not been high, fans want that rectified? A] I can understand that because that's the game. The game is about creating chances and trying to score so that's what you try and do. We will try and get on the front foot to try and win the game. Q] Any other niggles? A] No. Everyone seems not too bad. Q] What do you make of deadline day? A] I don't like deadline day, especially the January one because sometimes you end buying for the sake of buying. You can panic. I'm not a big advocate of it. Q] Sky Sports News presenter Jim White loves it? A] He's good at it. He's brilliant at it. You think he's having a heart attack when he's doing it. It's good when you are watching but if you're involved in it, it can be pretty hectic. Q] Any truth in the Kenwyne Jones and Jermaine Defoe rumours? A] I can say that's not going to happen. I have seen the rumours linking us with some players but a lot of them aren't going to happen. Q] Any other irons in the fire? A] We'll have to wait and see. Q] You've banned laptops and tablets? A] My own phone doesn't work so if mine doesn't no-one else does. It's a place of work and a profession. They are professional footballers. I don't need people googling things and all that. We're here to play football and you respect the player and have discipline like anywhere else. I don't apply a steel rod or anything just certain things we will try to implement. Q] How impressed with Nathan Baker at West Ham? A] I thought Nathan did really well, considering he's predominantly a centre-back. He did really well for me and I was happy with him. He never gave it up and had a brilliant last-ditch tackle. Q] Matt Lowton impressed at West Ham too? A] I never thought he looked out of place. We were strong against a physical team. The back four is pretty young. Shay takes it up to about 84! Q] Injury news on Gabby, Chris and Nathan? A] Hopefully Gabby might train in the next week at some point. Hopefully he might get back quicker. Chris did fine against Stoke in the U21s. He's trained and in the squad. Nathan is in the squad as well. He's back in it as well. That's a bonus for us.
