Villa v Everton player preview: Bent wants fans to "raise the roof"
Darren Bent has called on fans to "raise the roof" as Villa entertain Everton on Saturday.
Bent wants supporters to scream the team on as they look for their first win of the 2012-13 season.
Manager Paul Lambert has already spoken of the need for the crowd to play their part in B6.
And it's a positive principle that Bent fully agrees with ahead of the tough Toffees test.
He said: "The Villa fans are definitely behind us 100% and when they kick in and get behind us as vocally as they do, that always helps the team to produce the kind of performance we know we're capable of.
"Their support is going to be massive this season. To be fair, from the get-go in pre-season, they have been right behind us and we will need that.
"When the fans are behind us, singing their hearts out, it's fantastic and gives everyone a big lift.
"It's Everton at Villa Park in the first game on Saturday. They played fantastically well against Manchester United and you can't take that away from them. They worked hard, they played really well and they shut Manchester United down.
"We know what we're up against because we've seen what we're up against.
"Everybody watched the game and we know we have to match their work rate and work ethic.
"But they're coming to Villa Park which is our fortress, our place and we have to try to raise the roof and turn them over."
Bent insists everyone associated with Villa is up for Saturday, especially after the frustration of defeat to West Ham on the opening day of the season.
He added: "It was a disappointing result but I don't think the team played particularly badly. In fact, we played quite well.
"We suffered one lapse of concentration and we got punished for that, but that can happen sometimes.
"We have to put it behind us now and focus on the next game, which is a really big game against Everton who are coming off a big result for them.
"Everyone will be up for it, the players, the fans, no question."
