The road to Wembley begins for Villa tonight when Tranmere Rovers arrive at Villa Park for a Capital One Cup clash.

Tickets are still available for the second round tie as the boys in claret and blue take on the League One outfit.

The tie will bring back memories of our famous semi-final victory over the Merseyside outfit on the way to winning the trophy in 1994.

Penalties were required on that occasion, with the shot-stopping heroics of Mark Bosnich sending Villa through to a Wembley final against Manchester United.

New manager Paul Lambert will be hoping to secure a much more comfortable passage into round three when Tranmere return to B6.

The claret and blues, who have won the League Cup five times, will be determined to improve on last year's performance in the competition when they bowed out in the third round to Bolton Wanderers.

It took extra-time for Tranmere to see off Chesterfield and book their place in the second round.

The match finished goalless in normal time but Cole Stockton's 93rd minute effort put Ronnie Moore's team ahead.

Jack Lester equalised in the second period of extra-time before Abdulai Bell-Baggie's winner in the final minute sealed a Tranmere triumph.

Tickets for the round two clash at Villa Park are £12 [adults] and £5 [U16s] in the North and Family Stands, £15 [adults] and £5 [U16s] in the Holte End, £20 [adults] and £5 [U16s] in Trinity Road and central Doug Ellis, and £15 [adults] and £5 [U16s] in the Doug Ellis wings.

In the interest of enhancing the matchday atmosphere, Trinity Road Stand Upper Tier [A Block] will not be open for this fixture.

This means that season card holders in this area will not have the option to claim their seat for this fixture.

This area may be opened on matchday subject to demand. Members of the Cup Scheme who sit in Trinity Road Upper have not had their cards charged and may request an alternative seat.
