N'Zogbia determined to get off to a flyer against West Ham

By Dan Harrison

Charles N'Zogbia is determined to make a flying start to the new season - after admitting Villa supporters have yet to see the best of him.

N'Zogbia says he is raring to go for the Barclays Premier League opener against West Ham after reaping the benefits of a good pre-season.

The French winger admits his first season at the club was up and down but he is eager to get back to his best.

And N'Zogbia believes Paul Lambert is the man to get the best out of him because of his positive approach.

"This pre-season for me has been really good," he said.

"It has been good to work with the new manager and it is a new start for the club and all of the players.

"I think we've got a strong mentality now and we're staying focused. I think we're more positive and that is good for everyone.

"We are all thinking the same way and the new staff know what they want from us as players and we know what they expect from us.

"It has been difficult for me, my first year here was difficult, but now it is a different time.

"Everybody wants to do well and I want to improve and get to the best level.

"The new manager is good - he's a positive man with a positive mind and positive ideas about football.

"That will help us to work hard for him and for the club and to get good results.

"I hope this manager will know how to bring the best out of me.

"I have had a good pre-season to work hard on my level of fitness. I know what I can do and I hope I can do it soon."

N'Zogbia believes Lambert's brand of attacking football will produce positive results as well as exciting the fans.

"We need to have that mentality going forward of not been afraid to try things, not being afraid to take chances and to score," he added.

"We had a 3-3 draw in our last game and that is good to see us scoring goals because that is what the fans want to see.

"As long as we try to do that and try to play attacking football then that will be good for everyone and we will be happy.

"I think the gaffer likes to go forward, he likes to make sure we play pressure football and then to keep the ball so that we are in control of it.

"As long as we keep that ball and we know what we are going to do with it, then it is good for us and will help us to win matches."
