Paul Lambert entered the fans forum to rapturous applause and left to a standing ovation as he spelled out his immediate vision for Villa.

Fans were offered the chance to put questions to the gaffer at the first get-together between boss and supporters this season.

The fans forum format returned to Villa Park after the absence of a few years with BBC Radio WM hosting the event in the Holte Suite.

Much-respected reporter Paul Franks compeered the evening, with Lambert taking questions from enthusiastic season ticket holders, who won their place following a draw.

Lambert was passionate, humorous, enthusiastic and gracious when talking about his much-revered role in B6.

The manager spoke, amongst other things, about expectations for the upcoming campaign, the importance of the fans, the young blood coming through, his signings to date, Stiliyan Petrov, the captaincy and the brilliance of Villa Park as a venue.

Fans young and old delivered their teasers and Lambert was only too happy to give his verdict on every question posed.

AVTV will be showing a video of the event - and the gaffer's responses - on Friday and they will also be on BBC Radio WM that evening too.
