Clark: Confidence in the squad is sky high under new manager
Ciaran Clark has hailed the optimism in the Villa camp, insisting the squad are relishing the new regime.
Clark says the mood at Bodymoor Heath is sky high because the players are embracing new manager Paul Lambert's methods.
The 22-year-old admits the gaffer has cranked up the intensity in training - but the players have risen to the task.
"Everyone is thrilled to get into the training ground in the morning, from the moment they wake up," said Clark.
"They want to get out there and looking forward to working hard in training.
"It's so enjoyable. I feel that buzz. You can't help but notice it.
"Just being at the games you can sense that positivity and excitement amongst the fans. That can only be a good thing for the season.
"The change in a short space of time in terms of training and how we're feeling has gone up a couple of levels.
"The buzz about the place is a lot more than it was last season. I think the boys going out to training are a lot more positive.
"They're looking to get the ball down and looking forward to getting out there and training with each other.
"We enjoy working hard too. This season already in the games and in training, all the boys can tell a massive difference."
Clark admits Lambert and his coaches Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa have been quick to implement their philosophies at Villa.
"He wants us to work hard - that's absolutely No.1 key for the new manager," added the 22-year-old.
"He wants us to have the right attitude and work as hard as we can for as long as we can.
"He wants us to keep possession, use the midfield, pass through the midfield and just generally keep the ball.
"That's something we maybe haven't done in the last few seasons.
"Initially it was a bit of a change for the boys because we hadn't done anything like that.
"Now that we've settled into it and we know the way the manager wants to play and getting more and more used to it, I think in the games we've played and in training we keep going up and up and improving.
"I think that will work well for the season."
