Lambert and Bannan react to Forest defeat on AVTV

Lambert handed Barry Bannan the captain's armband and the Scottish midfielder repaid his manager by converting a stunning 25-yard free-kick. But it wasn't enough to prevent a first defeat of pre-season for the boys in claret and blue. Lambert and Bannan were on hand to give their post-match verdicts on AVTV. He told his players not to read too much into the result as it was the first time many of them had completed 90 minutes this term. The Villa manager also assessed the performance of new signing Ron Vlaar who made his debut for the club after completing a switch from Feyenoord this week. Bannan discussed his pride at wearing the captain's armband for the second time in pre-season. He also talked about the brilliant long-range strike which left Forest's goalkeeper Lee Camp with no chance. The midfielder assessed the performance overall and insisted the players will work hard to iron out some of their errors in time for the kick Barclays Premier League kick-off against West Ham in a fortnight's time.
