The Hollywood megastar flew in from California to watch Paul Lambert's men take on the Portland Timbers at the Jeld-Wen Stadium. After a few beers in his private box, Hanks granted an audience to AVTV, with Lucy Finney asking claret and blue teasers to the Castaway, Da Vinci Code and Turner and Hooch star. Hanks showed plenty of Villa knowledge, explaining how he'd been reading up on the early beginnings of the club and the current roster. He chatted about his delight at meeting AVTV's guest commentator Ian Taylor, saying: "Tayls could still play in the Premier League wearing his jeans!" He spoke about his hopes for the coming season and his excitement at Paul Lambert's reign in charge. Then it was on to the pitch, where he chatted with Darren Bent, Barry Bannan and manager Lambert before being introduced to fellow guest and fellow fan Geezer Butler, of Black Sabbath fame. Boss Lambert was thrilled to meet Hanks. He said: "He is a really nice guy. He was really humble. "Someone of that world stature and status he's got, he's a really good man. It was a privilege to meet him." Following a few minutes of on-pitch photos, Hanks then performed the pre-match coin toss! Now all we're waiting for is Hanks at a Villa Park game - and he revealed he's desperate to come this season. Watch out for an exclusive interview with Hanks on AVTV soon!
