Matthew Lowton heads to Burton with Villa this afternoon insisting: "There's a real buzz in camp."

Lowton says he's been made very welcome by the claret and blue family and can't wait to get his career started with Villa.

He's relishing being part of the "new era" under manager Paul Lambert.

He said: "The gaffer did a fantastic job at Norwich with back to back promotions and the fans must be really excited about him coming here with the standard of the management job he did there.

"Hopefully he can do the same thing here.

"It is a new era, a new manager and there's been a few new signings.

"The squad already had fantastic players in, as everybody knows, so hopefully we can all come together and have a successful season.

"It is fantastic being at Villa. I am looking to fight for a place and play a few games this season.

"There is a buzz around the place. The lads were all having plenty of banter - a laugh and a joke - when I arrived and they have all been very welcoming which was all good of them."

Lowton was extremely complimentary of the facilities on offer to the players at Bodymoor Heath as they get set for 2012-13.

He added: "Just from driving up in the mornings you can see the training ground is spectacular.

"It is a massive club, a big fan base and I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead.

"It is spectacular at Bodymoor Heath, the pitches are phenomenal."
