Brett Holman is buzzing about his Villa career, courtesy of the warm welcome afforded to him by his new team-mates.

Holman says he couldn't have wished for a better start, hailing the friendliness of the claret and blue camp.

And he says the excitement levels he's feeling are high ahead of the new season.

He said: "It's been interesting obviously. You're a new player and you have to meet the guys and see how the dressing room is. Then there's obviously meeting the new coach.

"But it's been good. All the guys are great. It's a fantastic group and they are friendly and down to earth.

"They are all top guys. It's obviously a lot easier when you know someone - like I do with Karim - when you join a new club.

"But it's been easy. The guys are super and easy to speak to. It's not as bad as going to school for the first time!

"I'm happy. There's been a couple of months waiting after the deal was done and dusted. I had to wait a while which was a little bit strange but it's good to be here and start training with the guys and get cracking on a new season.

"It's been tough so far but then that's pre-season. It's been tough as a pre-season should be!

"It's been good. It's been exciting. The first week is done and it's been great to meet the guys. I am happy to be here."
