Views of Villa: Away kit launches down the years

Villa's away kit will be launched this weekend and to celebrate we thought we'd bring you pictures of some strip sensations from past years.

There's centre-back aces Shaun Teale and Ugo Ehiogu modelling the second strip for 1993-94, a season when we finished 10th in the Premier League.

It was a notable campaign for the arrival of Andy Townsend and the final departure of Gordon Cowans, who joined Derby County.

Then there's likely lads Luke Moore and Lee Hendrie showing off the new kits for 2004-05, a campaign we also ended in 10th place.

Martin Laursen was the high-profile arrival that term, joining from AC Milan.

Gareth Barry and Nobby Solano were the two players chosen to model the following season, Solano donning the traditional home strip and Barry opting for the bright yellow away kit.

Milan Baros joined that term from Liverpool in a big-money deal along with Aaron Hughes, Wilfred Bouma, Stuart Taylor, Kevin Phillips and Patrik Berger.

James Milner signed on loan while Thomas Hitzlsperger and Darius Vassell both departed.

Villa finished 16th in David O'Leary's final season in charge.

Ashley Young was the man in the spotlight as he showed off the 2007-08 away kit at Harvey Nichols in the Mailbox and was back the following term alongside John Carew in Brindley Place.

Both terms were successful for Villa as the claret and blues finished sixth.

It was a rather curious affair for the away kit unveiling for 2009-10 as street entertainers proved their weight in gold outside the New Street store.

The artists stood like statues - much like most defences in the wake of Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor that term - and entertained the watching Villa fans.

Once again, Villa finished sixth.

The 2010-11 kit launch happened outside the ICC and involved Brad Friedel, Stewart Downing, Stiliyan Petrov and Carlos Cuellar.

Villa finished the season in ninth with Darren Bent providing the highlight for the second strip at Arsenal with a 2-0 Emirates win.

Carlos Cuellar was again involved at the unveiling of both the home and away shirt for 2011-12 at Bodymoor Heath alongside Fabian Delph.

Villa beat Chelsea 3-1 in the second strip but ultimately finished the campaign in a frustrating 16th place.

Here's backing Lambert's Lions - in their vibrant lime strip - to start climbing the table this term.

Villa's new Macron/Genting away kit will be on-sale in the Villa Village and New Street Stores on Saturday or online.
