Lambert's Lions finally began to roar as they started their pre-season preparations for the 2012-13 term.

Lambert, alongside trusted aides Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa, watched on as the players were put through their paces on a gloriously sunny day at Bodymoor Heath.

There was a mixture of fitness and football work on the fields as the new Macron training wear glimmered in front of the video and digital cameras.

Lambert addressed the troops, bedecked in black and blue gear, before they set off on a series of drills aimed to sharpen them up as the begin the journey to the new campaign.

After a session with fitness coach Adrian Lamb, it was on to ball work, with Lambert, Culverhouse and Karsa orchestrating proceedings.

The likes of Darren Bent, Gabby Agbonlahor, Charles N'Zogbia and Marc Albrighton were all back as the new regime began to take shape.

Lambert was thrilled with what he saw in the morning session.
