Herd: Holman's versatility will be major plus for Villa

Chris Herd has pinpointed Brett Holman's versatility as a major plus point for Villa next season. Herd is delighted to welcome fellow countryman Holman to Villa, after his transfer from AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie. Holman is able to play up top, as a second striker or on either wing. And Herd thinks this will be a major advantage for Villa in the coming campaign. He said: "I'm really forward to working with Brett and playing with him next season. "I don't know him personally but I know he's a great player. He's proven that with AZ Alkmaar and Australia. "He will definitely bring good things to the club. He's an attacking player and he can play anywhere - up front, wide, even in midfield - he's very versatile. "But he's very good wherever he plays. He's had a good career so far and I'm sure that will continue with Villa." Herd insists there's a real hunger in the claret and blue camp to prove to Paul Lambert they can be his lions. The 23-year-old is targeting an improvement in team and personal form. He added: "We are certainly looking to have a better season as a team and get pushing up that table. "I want to help the team. And I want to progress as a player and better my game. "We are a tight group. We're all friends. We plan to stick together, work hard as a group and do the business for the manager."
