Villa's new home kit flew off the racks this weekend at the official launch festival - with sales figures the best in a decade. John Greenfield called the two-day event an "amazing success" as he witnessed some cracking live music, smiles on the faces of families - and the shop tills jangling. Click here to buy the kit. To see so many families together on Father's Day and spending time together was fantastic. In fact, that was one of the points made in feedback to us - how happy the supporters were that we elected to give them a real event to enjoy. "The bands were fantastic. The music was great and very well received by everyone. "The kit has been very well received too, which is terrific. I've been told the fans are delighted we've given them something traditional in the home kit and something a bit more vibrant in the away strip. "In terms of sales, it's our best in a decade. That's brilliant. "I think the supporters have recognised how hard we've worked to give them what they want. "We've strived to bring the shirt out nice and early so they can enjoy a full year's cycle - and wear it with pride on their summer holidays! "But it's not just about the home and away kit, we will have a very extensive range of leisure and training wear too. There's much more to come from our partnership with Macron and I'm sure the supporters will be delighted. "The final thing I must say is a big thank-you to all my colleagues at the club- staff from marketing, catering, ticketing, safety and security - who pulled together to make the kit launch weekend such a fabulous success." It's true. It felt more like a festival site than a football venue for Villa Park as a host of bands belted out their terrific tracks for the watching claret and blue fans. The likes of The Culture, The Bluebeat Arkestra, Dakota Beats, Swim Deep and The Lines performed on Saturday with Stubblemelt, Deception's Pocket, Joyous, Vows, Soldier and Taking Hayley hitting the right notes on Sunday. The musical line-up was compiled by Richard Franks and Counteract Magazine. And, as an added extra, Paradise Forum went through an extensive repertoire at B6, with the band consisting of two very famous children. The son of Peter Withe and daughter of Pat Heard set the stage alight with a great set as part of the glam group! Peter and Pat were on hand to check out the anthems too. And, as if that wasn't enough celebrity for one weekend, new manager Paul Lambert and midfield ace Barry Bannan put in guest appearances on Saturday to the delight of the assembled masses. Lambert and Bannan both received raucous welcomes when they entered the stage, with the pair being quizzed extensively by AVTV host Jack Woodward, who compered on both days.
