One of our oldest supporters has become the first fan to get his hands on Villa's new home shirt.

Cyril Marjoram, who lives at Four Oaks, was presented with the super new shirt to mark his 99th birthday.

"I've never owned a Villa replica shirt before but I will be proud to wear this one," said the retired company director, who is a former Villa senior vice-president.

"Now I hope next season proves to be as impressive as the team's new kit."

Originally from Burton-on-Trent, Cyril started watching Villa regularly when he came to work in Erdington in the 1950s, initially on the terraces and as a season ticket holder since 1958.

His favourite memory of following the club was the dramatic extra-time victory over Everton in the second replay of the 1977 League Cup final at Old Trafford.

Despite his advancing years, Cyril is still a regular at Villa home games.

Together with his son David, he is a member of the McGregor Club, and missed only four home games last season.
