Given and Dunne off to Euro 2012 as Ireland confirm final squad
The Villa duo will star in Ireland's first major championship campaign for a decade.
LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Villa earlier this season, has also been selected to spearhead the Republic's attack.
Ireland qualified for Euro 2012 with a convincing play-off success over Estonia after finishing second in Group B behind Russia.
But they face a tough draw in the tournament group stages with Croatia, Italy and reigning world and European champions Spain standing in their way.
It will mean a second crack at a major international competition for goalkeeper Given, who played in all of his national side's matches as the 2002 World Cup.
Dunne also travelled to Japan and Korea in 2002 but was an unused member of Mick McCarthy's squad.
The defender, who made a successful return for Villa last week after two months out with a broken collarbone, played a pivotal role during Euro 2012 qualification with a colossal display in a goalless draw in Russia.
Ireland's Euro 2012 campaign begins against Croatia in Poznan on June 10.
Trapattoni's team then face Spain in Gdansk on June 14 before the Group C finale against Italy in Poznan on June 18.
