McLeish backs in-form Heskey for rousing season finale
![]()
Alex McLeish has paid tribute to recalled Emile Heskey, hailing his performances over the past two games as "tremendous." McLeish has been mightily impressed with the form of Heskey, who worked tirelessly for the team in the clashes against Bolton and West Brom. Heskey has had a stop-start campaign, with niggling injuries preventing him from playing a more active role in claret and blue. The 34-year-old returned to the side for the last two games and starred up top with his all-action game. McLeish believes a goal return from the powerful forward would be ample reward for his courage and commitment as the season comes to a close. He said: "I think he's been tremendous in the last couple of games. "It would be good to see the big guy get a goal for all the hard work he's done. It would be great reward for him. "I am sure he can do that for us too. "He's definitely made a few assists in terms of setting up chances for people and I think the players like him being in the team. "He started the season extremely well until he had some achilles problems. "Again, at that particular stage of the season, he was incredibly effective in different positions. He's certainly a team player." Snap up your seat for Villa's final home game against Tottenham - click here.
