Villa's word on the tweet: Stan's battle cry and a trim for Samir
![]()
The rise to prominence of Samir Carruthers has generated plenty of excitement among Villa supporters. The midfielder has impressed the claret and blue faithful with lively cameos against Manchester United and Liverpool. Carruthers couldn't hide his delight after being thrown into the action against United.
While Carruthers looks to be a cut above on the pitch, team-mate Derrick Williams was less than impressed with his antics at the hairdressers.
But the razor-sharp Republic of Ireland U19 winger was quick to tell Williams to concentrate on his own hairdo.
It appears that Carruthers' playing style has drawn comparisons to another man named Samir.
Diving has been a hot topic in the football world once again, not least because of the controversial penalty awarded against Villa last weekend. Former manager John Gregory took to Twitter to put his own slant on the issue. JG doesn't need much of an excuse to turn the subject to rock music, especially his hero Bruce Springsteen who has graced the big stage at Old Trafford on a couple of occasions.
Sticking to a musical theme, Ciaran Clark has been expressing an interest in ITV reality show The Voice. And he thinks he has found a perfect contestant - step forward former Villa academy player Adam McGurk.
Eric Lichaj has been ridiculed by his pals before for a supposed lack of style. But this time it was the USA full-back's car rather than his clothes that were the butt of the joke.
There is more than a slight suspicion that housemate Andreas Weimann's response was an 'owning up' tweet.
Finally, former Villa striker Stan Collymore issued a rallying call ahead of a big week for the club. And he made it clear he will be swapping the press box for the Holte End for Tuesday night's game against Bolton.
