Injured Hutton doubtful for Chelsea but hopeful of Liverpool return
Alan Hutton is a serious doubt for Villa's game against Chelsea on Saturday - but Alex McLeish hopes to have the full-back available for the trip to Liverpool on April 7.
Hutton was forced off during the defeat against Arsenal at the weekend with a calf problem and had been struggling with a heel injury going into the Barclays Premier League showdown at the Emirates.
It is hoped that the Scotland international will be back in time for Villa's Easter double header against Liverpool and Stoke City, although the Chelsea game could come too soon.
Meanwhile, Charles N'Zogbia is set to see a specialist who will assess his knee ligament injury.
"I don't think they will make it so I am two men down right away," McLeish told AVTV.
"I don't think Hutton will be too long - probably this game is too far for him but he should be ready for the next game.
"Alan probably has more of a chance that Charles has.
"Charles has tweaked a medial ligament.
"He will see some specialists this week with the doctor and hopefully the diagnosis will dictate that he is not out for too long."
McLeish delivered the injury update when he spoke to AVTV for his weekly one-to-one interview.
He discussed a range of topics including the demands on the young players in Villa's squad and the big selection decisions he faces ahead of Saturday's game against Chelsea.
