Gardner: I want to become a prolific goalscorer for Villa
Gary Gardner is determined to make a big impact in Villa's senior setup by taking his goalscoring exploits on to the Barclays Premier League stage.
The 19-year-old midfielder has an impressive scoring record for the club's reserve and youth sides.
He scored six goals in Villa's NextGen Series campaign this season, as well as four for the reserves, two for England U21s and another during a brief loan spell with Championship side Coventry City.
Now Gardner is eager to break his duck in the top-flight.
And the academy graduate hopes that once he gets off the mark, it will be the first of many in a claret and blue jersey.
"I love scoring goals, I absolutely love it," said Gardner.
"I have had a few chances already in the first team and I'm confident it will come.
"I am looking for that first - and then many more for this great football club.
"You can't explain how good a feeling it is to score a goal.
"It's the best feeling in the world. It's incredible.
"I want to score loads of goals for Villa. It would be an emotional moment to score at the Holte End.
"I'd be straight over to celebrate with the fans. It's would be a dream."
Gardner wants to emulate Liverpool and England star Steven Gerrard by becoming a top goalscoring midfield player.
He counts the Champions League-winning Reds skipper as someone he looks up to.
"Steven Gerrard likes to get forward and get his fair share of goals and that's my game," Gardner added.
"I look up to him. I always look up to him because he's class. I want to have a career like him."
