Penalty king Bent won't be repeating Yorke's audacious Arsenal antics

Darren Bent is hoping to be on the spot again on Sunday - but he says he has no intention of copying Dwight Yorke's audacious Arsenal antics. Bent slammed home the last Villa penalty at Wolves and will look to continue the run if another is handed to the visitors at the Emirates Stadium. Penalties and Arsenal conjure up images of Yorke's most talked-about moment in a claret and blue shirt, of course. One of Yorke's many goals was his top-flight trembler from the spot against the Gunners in May 1998. David Seaman dived, only to see Yorke nudge the ball ever-so-slightly over the line with the most ridiculous of finishes. Bent has no intention of following suit. He said: "I would never do that. I wouldn't trust myself! "I am so goal hungry - desperate to bang in the goals for Villa - that I just wouldn't want to risk it. "It's about smashing it and seeing it go in. "I certainly remember the Yorkie penalty against Arsenal. No-one had seen anything like that before. It was ridiculous. "He looked brilliant but he wouldn't have done if he missed. He didn't though - and that was Yorkie all over! "I can still see David Seaman falling back and probably feeling a little silly." Bent is relishing the Arsenal encounter and is also hoping to come out on top - by helping Villa emerge victorious in the game and by winning the race to swap shirts with Thierry Henry. Henry is Bent's idol and Villa's star striker refers to the loanee pace ace as "The Greatest." But despite this obvious admiration, Bent insists he's fully focused on progress through to the next round of the FA Cup. In fact, Villa's record signing would love nothing more than a trip to Wembley with Villa. Bent says the FA Cup is a wonderful competition and one of Villa's main priorities. He said: "It will be great to come up against Thierry in the FA Cup game but trust me, I am focused on getting through. That's paramount. "We're all striving in the Barclays Premier League of course but with this game, we'll be going all-out to win and get through. "It's a big, big competition. The FA Cup has lost none of its shine in my eyes and it would be great to go far in it this season. "We've got Arsenal and it's going to be a tough game on their patch but we have to believe in ourselves. "I know Villa got to the Carling Cup final and FA Cup final two seasons ago and it would be great to get to Wembley again and hopefully win a trophy. That would be amazing. "It will be great to come up Thierry. He is the greatest! Full stop. "His all-round game was frightening in his prime. It wasn't just his goals, of which there were masses, it was his assists too. "He must be up there in the Premier League assists table. He was absolutely fantastic. "Obviously I was an Arsenal fan as a kid and when I played against him when I was at Charlton early in my career he gave me his shirt. "That's the first thing you see when you walk into my house. It's got pride of place. "There's going to be a mad scramble for that shirt on Sunday at the end of the game. There will be seven or so guys going for it. "In terms of this second spell at Arsenal, I just think his presence on the pitch brings something. "If you're a defender and you've faced Robin van Persie for 70 minutes and then he goes off and you see Henry coming, you must think 'what the hell?' "I know he's older now but he's a smart guy. He can definitely play in the top-flight still." Click here for QPR tickets.
