Keane: I'm feeling "sharper and sharper" with every passing moment

By Paul Brown

Robbie Keane was delighted with his "sweet" strike - but the on-loan forward was more elated with the three points the decisive goal ensured.

Keane blasted two great goals - the winner an unstoppable effort which helped Villa to a 3-2 victory at Molineux.

But rather than focusing on the brilliance of the goal, Keane concentrated on its importance.

The striker also stressed that there's more to come from him over the next few games, with his fitness levels rising all the time.

He said: "I caught the winner sweet. It was one of those precious few - sometimes you catch them really well and this time I certainly did.

"Luckily enough for me, it went in. As a striker it's always nice to score. I'm judged on that, of course.

"But the most important thing is the three points for the team and helping the side push up the league.

"I'm only here for a short time so if I can help in any way possible, then great.

"With two goals and the three points, I'd like to think I helped in this game."

Asked whether the brace showed he could still do the business in the top-flight, he replied swiftly: "Who said I couldn't?

"I feel good, I feel sharp. Remember this was my first full game since December.

"I've felt good the last few weeks in training. I'm feeling sharper and sharper and you saw that against Wolves."

Keane admitted it was strange emotionally to bag a brace at the home of his former team, where he spent two happy years.

But he said his allegiances were firmly in the claret and blue corner.

He added: "I had wonderful times at Wolves and they are a club that looked after me as a kid.

"I'll never forget that but at the end of the day you have to be professional and do the job for the team that you are with and that's Aston Villa.

"You have to put everything to one side and concentrate on your own job and be professional and that was the case at Molineux.

"However, I never celebrate when I score against my former clubs, out of respect."
