Match report: Reading U18s 4-0 Villa U18s

Tony McAndrew was left ruining a string of missed opportunities after his side slipped to 4-0 defeat at Reading.

McAndrew insists the scoreline did not do his team justice - although the coach accepts his side failed to capitalise on a good start.

The in-form Royals, who came into this clash on the back of two straight victories, broke the deadlock on 20 minutes through Uche Ikpeazu.

Matt Partridge made Villa's task even harder when he doubled the home team's advantage 10 minutes later.

Further goals from Aaron Tshibola and James Murphy gave Reading an emphatic four-goal cushion.

McAndrew said: "We didn't actually play as badly as the result might suggest.

"We controlled the game totally up until they scored the first goal.

"It was a little bit difficult to take being 2-0 down at half time.

"We missed a penalty at 2-0, we missed a couple of other good chances and hit the bar so when you watch it back on the DVD we played quite well.

"But it is that thing about conceding poor goals again and it punishes you."

Villa return to Bodymoor Heath this Saturday when they take on MK Dons [ko 11.30am].

VILLA: Barrett, Jenkins, Bryan, Donacien, Kinsella, Barton, Melvin, Ward, Grealish, Darkin, Taylor. Subs: Drennan [for Darkin, HT], Coton, Juan Serrano [Melvin, HT], Webb [for Bryan HT], Bateman,
