Match report: Villa U18s 2-2 Leicester U18s

Villa earned a second consecutive draw following a hard-fought game against last season's title rivals Leicester City at Bodymoor Heath.

Spanish midfielder Juan Serrano opened his account for the season while Northern Irish winger Josh Barton scored for the second week running.

Juan Serrano was on hand to finish from close range after a terrific team move just before half-time.

Barton followed up his strike against Tottenham with another well-taken effort from the edge of the box to put Villa 2-1, although the boys in claret and blue were unable to hold on for victory.

Nevertheless, coach Tony McAndrew was delighted with the performance and felt his side deserved more from the clash.

He said: "We played very well and Leicester are top of the league so considering the three games prior to the Tottenham game , the last two have been excellent.

"On Saturday we were very good and not unfortunate to win the game.

"There were two really good goals on our part although we were disappointed with the two that we conceded.

"But we played some great stuff. We are a bit disappointed for the kids because we deserved to win but we played really well against a team who are top of the table.

VILLA: Coton; Jenkins, Bryan, Donacien, Caira; Barton, Melvin, Juan Serrano, Graham; Darkin, Taylor. Subs: Bateman, Barrett, Nelson, Grealish [for Juan Serrano, 60], Eminoglu [for Graham, 68].
