Match report: Villa U18s 0-4 Fulham U18s

Tony McAndrew's top priority is to restore the confidence of his Villa young guns after a deflating loss to Fulham.

The youth team coach insists he must lift the spirits of the young charges ahead of next weekend's trip to Tottenham, following a third defeat on the bounce.

Despite a decent start, Villa found themselves two goals down after 20 minutes.

And the boys in claret and blue also had an effort disallowed after Connor Taylor touched home Jordan Graham's strike while in an offside position.

McAndrew said: "It's a bit bewildering - we actually started the game really well but the first time they got in our box they scored.

"We were 2-0 having controlled the game for 20 minutes then our heads went down a bit and we found it tough chasing the game.

"We did play some decent stuff in possession but we are struggling when we aren't in possession.

"You have to be careful you don't overkill the lads. We did play some good stuff so you have to highlight those points.

"But we also need to get it right - we wouldn't be doing our job if we told them how we are defending is ok.

"There is a lot of stuff there we can work on. We need to work on the confidence and build these lads up.

"They are not used to losing three games in a row."

VILLA: Barrett, Jenkins, Bryan, Webb, Caira, Barton, Ward, Melvin, Graham, Darkin, Taylor. Subs: Bateman, Watkins, Juan Serrano [Juan Serrano, 63], Nelson [for Taylor, 55], Eminoglu [Barton, 68].
