Loan watch: Fast start for Delfouneso as he scores past Guzan
Nathan Delfouneso made a fast start to life at Burnley with a debut goal - hours after signing on loan.
Delfouneso put pen to paper on a deal to join the Clarets until the end of the season and was immediately drafted into the squad for the clash against Hull at the KC Stadium that very same evening.
And he marked his first start with a goal after just five minutes, beating another loanee Brad Guzan.
Guzan joined the Tigers on an emergency loan after spending two months - and 11 appearances - with them - earlier this season.
But England U21 striker Delfouneso was the star of this particular contest, endearing himself immediately to the fans with the winner as Burnley strengthened their promotion push.
Delfouneso delivered instant dividends to lead Eddie Howe's team to their fifth win in six contests.
Jay Rodriguez's set-piece delivery found its way into the penalty box for the star striker to stab home from close quarters.
The win pushes Burnley up to seventh in the Championship table, one place and three points off a play-off spot.
Guzan's Hull are in ninth and well in touch themselves as they eye Barclays Premier League football.
Barry Bannan played the final seven minutes for Leeds as they beat Preston 2-1 on their travels at Deepdale.
Exquisite midfield ace Bannan replaced one of the goalscorers, Neil Kilkenny, in the latter stages of the contest as Leeds strengthened their position in the play-offs, the Whites currently lying in fifth place.
Eric Lichaj played 90 minutes for Simon Grayson's side at right-back.
Forward Andreas Weimann was an unused substitute as Watford drew 1-1 away at Swansea, to leave them in 11th place in the Championship.
Meanwhile, in League One, Isaiah Osbourne played 85 minutes for Sheffield Wednesday as they defeated Oldham 3-2 at Boundary Park.
Two goals from Chris Sedgwick and one from Mark Beevers won the contest for the Owls as they moved up to 15th in the table.
