Villa have rejected claims they have made a bid for Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

Reports say Peterborough have turned down an "insulting" Villa offer for the 23-year-old.

However, the club can categorically deny they have made a bid for the shot-stopper.

Chief Executive Paul Faulkner told www.avfc.co.uk: "The simple truth is that we haven't made a bid for the Peterborough goalkeeper.

"I've seen some of the reports today linking us with a bid for this player, but I can confirm that no bid has been made by Aston Villa."
