Young: Display was uncharacteristic

Ashley Young insists Villa's performance against Newcastle was "uncharacteristic" and has vowed the squad are ready to bounce back against Rapid Vienna on Thursday. Young described the 6-0 defeat as "an experience you never want to go through in your career". Attention now turns to the Europa League play-off second leg clash with Rapid, with Villa hoping to seal a place in the group stages. And Young insists the squad are fully focussed on the clash as they aim to right the wrongs of the St James' Park setback. He told AVTV: "To go down to such a heavy defeat in the way that we did, in the manner that we did, is unlike us. "Everyone was obviously unhappy in the dressing room and everyone was upset. We've got to put this behind us. "We've got an important game on Thursday and that is what we have got to look forward to now. "You never want to go through this ever in your career. It was extremely disappointing and uncharacteristic. "But we've got another game on Thursday and that is the main thing we have got to concentrate on now. "We've got games coming up thick and fast and that is what we have got to concentrate on." The England international said the players are taking full responsibility for the defeat at Newcastle. But he has urged them to be positive going into the second leg against Vienna. Young added: "It is disappointing for us as players who are out there. "We've got to take it - it's not down to the management and not down to the staff. We are the boys that are out there. "At the end of the day everyone is disappointed and we have got to look forward to the next game." Keywords
