Weimann's gift from the gab

Young hotshot Andreas Weimann has revealed Gabby Agbonlahor is a major inspiration to him as he strives to keep on developing as a player. The Austrian ace has been in a rich vein of form for Villa's reserve side and penned a new contract this week to keep him at the club until 2012. Now his aim is to carry on scoring goals in a bid to follow in the footsteps of the player he admires most. Weimann admits he watches Agbonlahor closely to pick up tips for his own game. "He is very quick and I try to look at him and try to make the best of my game by picking things up from him. "I don't really set myself targets, I'm just trying to score as many goals as I can. "I naturally work hard but [reserve team coach] Kevin MacDonald always says to me the harder I work, the better I'll play." Weimann's season started at the Peace Cup, but his finest moment arguably came against Villa's bitter rivals Birmingham City. He scored two goals past England goalkeeper Joe Hart in a 3-3 Reserve League South draw. The strong Blues team featured the likes of Hart, Kevin Phillips and Franck Queudrue. "Obviously it is great to play against them," Weimann added. "Kevin always says it is a good test for us and it shows that they recognise our work because they put strong teams out against us."
