Lowry: Mixed Feelings
By Dan Harrison
Shane Lowry had mixed emotions after making his competitive debut in the defeat by Rapid Vienna.
The youngster made his bow as a second-half substitute in the Europa League play-off first leg.
Despite being delighted at making his first appearance in a competitive match for Villa, he admitted he'd wished it had have been in better circumstances.
He told AVTV: "It's mixed emotions for me. It's my competitive debut so I'm happy about that but I'd much rather the team had have won. That would have made it better for me.
"I was quite happy with my debut but I it's a pity about the result.
"They've got some good fans here who make a hell of a noise. I've been on the bench a few times last season and I got involved n most of the games in pre-season so I wasn't as nervous as I thought I'd be.
"Hopefully next week at Villa Park we can turn it around and I'm sure we've got the quality in the team to do it.
"It's only 1-0 at Villa Park we should make it a fortress. Hopefully our fans can make it as noisy as the Rapid fans did."
