MON: Yes To Youngsters
![]()
Martin O'Neill has revealed he will keep faith with his Young Lions as they look to secure more silverware tomorrow night. O'Neill could recommend senior first team fringe stars for Thursday's Barclays Premier Reserve League play-off final against Sunderland at Villa Park. But MON wants to stick with the likes of Barry Bannan, Marc Albrighton, Jonathan Hogg and Nathan Delfouneso for the important second string clash. He said: "I have said many times that the key for the reserves and academy sides is producing players for the first team. "But now we are there in a final, with a crowd coming in free, it's vital we go for it. It promises to be a fantastic atmosphere. "We want to go - as much as possible - with the young lads who have got us to the final in the first place. They deserve the chance to play. That's something we will stick with. "I know that a number of first team players would want to play in the game to help us out but I think we will try as much as possible to stay with those young players. "Ironically, some of the young lads have a fair bit of experience from being around the first team squad anyway - the likes of Nathan, Ciaran, Shane, Barry and Marc." Entry is FREE and kick-off is 7pm. Come along and cheer on the lads. Click here for more information about the crunch clash. |
