Blog: Moonwalk Madness

I remember Tom with a Villa scarf on the red carpet promoting Charlie Wilson's War. I don't know exactly what level of support he is throwing our way but any celebrity endorsement is good with me. It would be nice to meet a guy like Tom - he is a true legend and massive movie star. I loved films like Big and Forrest Gump growing up so I'd probably bore him about them. I always wanted to play the giant piano like he did in Big. Maybe he could teach me how he did that. There are a lot of celebrity Villa fans. Some of the lads had the honour of meeting Prince William this week but I would most like to bump into Ozzy Osbourne. I think I'd be in hysterics just by looking at him.
The new X-Men movie, tracing the origins of Wolverine, is also out now. I haven't managed to see this one yet but I've heard mixed reviews. I saw the first X-Men film and it was really good. They have made a fair few since so I have a lot of catching up to do. I loved the X-Men cartoon growing up - it was brilliant. My favourite character used to be Gambit. I adopted him as my favourite - in the same way we all choose which football team to support.
The long awaited comeback of Michael Jackson has finally arrived - and the tickets sold out like hot cakes. No matter what people think of his personal life, they have to respect him as one of the greatest artists of all time. I actually went to see the stage show Thriller and found myself singing along to most of the tunes. The amazing thing is that most of them were in the charts before I was born or when I was very little so it just goes to show what an amazing impact his music has had. And the burning question you want to ask is surely: Can Curtis Davies moonwalk? Simple answer, absolutely NOT. Unfortunately, after 24 years of trying, I've still got no further than stubbing my toe when trying to push back.
Back to sport and we're going to be facing both Blues and Wolves next season in the Barclays Premier League. I'm sure a lot of Villa fans would say they would've been delighted for our biggest rivals to stay in the Championship but, deep down, a lot want them up for the derby games. With Mick McCarthy's side up as well, it makes for some cracking clashes. I've been involved in many great derby games with Wolves when I was at West Brom - they are certainly games to look forward to. I'm gutted for the Baggies. They play the right football for this division but sometimes you need to win ugly. I think the teams around the relegation zone are probably more equipped to do that.
I was unable to stay up late to watch the fight but I was actually delighted to save the £15. Although Pacquiao was heavily fancied, I was right behind The Hitman and it was disappointing to see him knocked out in the second round. People are now calling for his retirement. I think - as much as it will be hard to retire on a defeat - there is no shame in having lost two fights in your career to two of the best boxers of the generation. A clash now between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jnr is the one everybody wants and I'm sure that won't be a disappointment.
He thanked the fans for their terrific support and I echo those sentiments. But he went on to say that without their backing, the players would be working at McDonalds. I think if I did go up for a burger at McDonalds and John was serving I'd be a little intimidated. On the subject of Big JC, he has treated himself to a nice, new, white Lamborghini. It is a very nice piece of kit but what is even more amazing is that Big John gets in and out of it.
I'm closing in on the end of The Wire series set so I'll be turning my attention to a new one at the start of next season. I'm also trying desperately to catch up with Lost but I've missed so many episodes now I will have to wait for the DVD to come out. On the subject of music, I really like a tune at the moment called 'Migraine Skank'. It's big in the clubs in London and has a dance to go with it. I won't be demonstrating that anytime soon.
