Gabby Agbonlahor insists training with the likes of David Beckham on international duty has given his confidence a massive boost.

Agbonlahor revealed one of his aims at the start of the season was breaking into the senior international squad - a feat he has achieved.

And he is adamant regularly being around the best players in the world has given him a tremendous shot in the arm.

He told AVTV: "On a personal level, the high points this season have been reaching double figures in goals again - that's always a great feat in the Barclays Premier League and I'm very proud of my England achievements too.

"Breaking into the England squad was definitely an ambition at the start of the season. I had got a sniff of the scene after taking part in a training camp but I hadn't managed to get on in a game. That was a goal so to start two matches was a really good achievement and something I am proud of.

"I want to stay in there now. Next season, I want to play in even more games. It's great to train with some of the best players in the world - they have fantastic quality. It's great to be around them.

"It adds to my confidence when I step out to play for Villa. When you're training with the likes of David Beckham, it helps you. You can definitely learn a lot from those sorts of players."
