Davies: Cup Confidence
![]()
Davies sees no reason why the claret and blue troops can't end 52 years of hurt, especially if they can secure favourable ties on the road to the final. He told AVTV: "When I was a young lad growing up, watching the FA Cup was fantastic. It still means a lot. "I think it means more now that the final is back at Wembley. It gives it more romance. "Only a few teams compete for the Barclays Premier League title and obviously, as a result of that, only a few get to play in the Champions League. "The FA Cup is different. We've seen in recent seasons that you can go a long way in the competition if you get a good draw. "Look at Barnsley, Cardiff and West Brom. "If we manage a favourable draw in the next few rounds, we will gain in confidence with every match and we will believe we can win it. But first, we have to negotiate a tough draw against either Cheltenham or Doncaster. "We were delighted to get through on Sunday. It will be the biggest game of Gillingham's season and they certainly rose to the occasion. "In reality, they probably deserved a draw and a replay at Villa Park. Thankfully, Ash won the penalty and Milly managed to put it away to win the tie." |
